December  Fell/Hill Running News

13 December 2009 - Mortimer Forest Hill Race 10.23m/1880' Ludlow Shropshire.

Six Striders took part in this tough Hill Race in Ludlow Shropshire.  First Strider home was Simone Capponi in 84.14 followed by Ian McNeil in 96.42.  Dave Pinnington was third Strider home in 106.39.  Gill Darby was fourth Strider to finish in 111.54 close by was Billy Taylor who was fifth Strider to finish in 113.14.  Barry Bright was final Strider home in 127.33 Well done everyone.


November  Fell/Hill Running News

7 November 2009 - Shepherds Skyline 6.25m/1150' Todmorden

Well done to Gill Darby who competed in the Shepherds Skyline Fell Race in Todmorden. Gill finished in a time of 1.07.04. A very popular fell race this up Coldwell Hill and around Stoodley Pike.

Congratulations to Dave Buse who completed this very tough Category A fell race in 2.28.36 and in doing so came 16th out of 173. A superb effort from Dave.  Well done.

Five Striders took part in this tough litle Fell Race from Ciclain to the summit of Moel Famau and back. This annual race is part of the Cilcain Show and the Penny Lane Multi Terrain series.  First Strider home was Frank Martin 41.15 who pipped Dave Pinnington in the last 50yds 41.22 to the finish line.  Tony Man was the 3rd Strider home in 44.23 followed by Gill Darby who finished in 46.15.  Sam Darby unluckily had to pull out 200 yds into the race due to a hamstring injury.

Race The Train (Rotary Challenge) - Saturday 14 August 14m

15 Striders took part in the Racing the Train on Saturday.  Leading the way in this tough 14 mile race was Simone Capponi in 1.39.39. John Connelly was the second Strider home in 1.43.47 with Neil Kelly on his heels in 1.44.59. Ste McNicholas in the (photo above) was the 4th Strider home clocking 1.57.14 again he was closely shadowed by Tommy Burke who did 1.57.23.

Gladstone 9 Fell Race - Saturday 8 August 9m/2890ft

Well done to Dave Buse who was the sole Penny Lane Strider taking part in this race in North Wales on Saturday 8 August 2009.  Dave completed the race in 1hr 30min and in doing so came 13th out of 62 runners.  The 9 mile race covered 2890ft of Ascent.

Ambleside Rydal Round Fell Race - Saturday 30 July 9m/3000ft

Well done to Dave Buse who took part in the Rydal Round in the heart of the lakes.  Dave completed the race in 1.49.47. Well done.

Tywardreath Trotter Cornwall - Saturday 25 July - 7m

Rob and Jane took part in the Trotter Race whilst on holiday in Cornwall
. It was a challengin race along footpaths, Bridleways and Country Lanes with a pver 50% of the race off road. Rob did the race in 55.58 and Jane got a time of 1:00.50.  Well done both of you.

Simone Capponi, Tony Man and Maria Conaghan on the final descent along the cobblestone road into Bollington.  This seems to be an up and coming race. Race numbers had doubled for this years 2009 race to 140.

Wincle Trout Fell Race - Saturday 30th May - 5.6m/950ft

Shane and Caroline represented PLS at the Wincle Trout Fell Race that was part of the WIncle Fete in the picturesque village of Wincle near Macclesfield. If you have never done this race its well worth doing. Worth noting this race is usually full well before race date so pre-entry is essential.
