Penny Lane Race History

The Penny Lane Striders Road Race began as a 10 mile event originally staged and run from the Greenbank Project in 1987.  The Race was revived in 1996 and remained a 10 miler until 1999 when, because of restrictions affecting the 10 mile course, was converted to a 10k distance, the distance that is run today.  In 2008 the Penny Lane Striders celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Race which has become a popular and well supported annual event.

From 2010 The Annual 10k race starts on Otterspool Promenade at the bottom of the Police Club and finishes with a grandstand finish inside the grounds of the Police Club.

Well done to all club members and runners who either helped out or took part in making the day a huge success.
Special mention goes to the race committee who managed to arrange and co-ordinate a superb event.
